Learning often occurs spontaneously in settings outside the classroom. To ensure this impromptu learning flourishes, the school will commence offering a range of co-curricular options from 2013.
Co-curricular opportunities will cover the Arts, sport, outdoor education and public speaking. Your child may decide to play the violin, shoot baskets, climb rock walls or debate climate change.
The Arts allows students to express their unique personality. Our integrated arts program will include music, drama and visual arts. The school currently has staff with expertise in the areas of visual art and music, and is seeking to expand this team through the involvement of a drama teacher and instrumental tutors.
Sport is vital and growing part of school life at Australian Christian College. It helps to promote cooperation and team spirit. Students are encouraged to strive for their personal best, while demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship.
The outdoor education program, from 2013, will include a comprehensive annual camping program. Students from Year 3 on will undertake outdoor activities designed to develop physical skills, resilience, perseverance, confidence and self-control.
The confidence that public speaking instills is well documented. As such, public speaking is incorporated into the curriculum for the benefit of all students. For those students who excel or would like to further enhance their skills, they will be able be involved in the school’s debating team and public speaking competitions.
Students are able to serve with our charity partner Compassion Australia. This partnership allows students to help other children who are less fortunate.
