TEACHING TEAM

Our teachers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and they have many different passions. Two comments that we often hear about our teachers is that they are approachable and that they love their students.

Louise Rolley

Louise used to live in Duncraig before moving down to Albany. She is a graduate of Edith Cowan University with a Bachelor of Education. Louise is very passionate about working with children as they learn. She loves bringing literature and drama into the classroom to show how to make abstract concepts fun and engaging.

Michael Poole

Michael was born and grew up in Albany. As a high school graduate he moved to Perth to further his studies. After completing his Bachelor of Education Michael spent over 12 years teaching at a Christian school in the eastern suburbs of Perth. During the last 6 years he worked as the Co-curricular Coordinator and Head of Health and Physical Education. Michael is a keen musician who sings and plays guitar, he also enjoys woodworking, especially making guitars.

Michelle Dragan

Michelle is a passionate Science teacher with Bachelor and Masters degrees in the Health Sciences. Michelle acquired her teaching qualifications in Australia after having moved from Canada. She is dedicated to helping students recognise their full potential, and maximising learning through hands-on, differentiated lessons. In her spare time, Michelle explores the Australian bush and captures photos of the beautiful landscape.

Terry Phipson

In 1997 Terry completed an Early Childhood Certificate through University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She taught at Elim Pre-Primary until she immigrated to Australia in 1999. Terry started work with Southlands Christian College in 2000 and remained with the school through many changes. Terry completed a Bachelor of Education in 2009 through Curtin University. She has a passion for teaching from a Biblical Worldview and engaging students with the new digital technologies in her classroom.

Damon Sokolowski

Damon is the Learning Support Coordinator at ACC in Albany. He has various experiences in education, business and church ministry, with degrees in business, politics, theology and education. He loves his wife and two kids and telling people how awesome Jesus is. Damon supports students with special needs across both online and on campus and also runs a learning enrichment class where students study some of the Great Books of Western Civilisation.

Marilyn Myhill

Marilyn obtained her Bachelor of Arts at University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, majoring in English and History and gained a graduate diploma from the University of London. Her teaching career has spanned several continents, including Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia. She is passionate about Christian Education and taught at Australian Christian College in Albany, went back to Perth for the arrival of a second grandchild and is now delighted to be back in Albany, combining teaching English on campus and Years 7-10 online in Humanities and English.

Jade Baker

Jade completed a Bachelor of Arts degree through the University of Western Australia in 2005. She majored in both English and History. While caring for three young children, Jade completed a Graduate Diploma of Education in 2010 through Curtin University. As a university student studying through distance education, she gained an insight into the opportunities and challenges posed by this medium. Jade is an enthusiastic explorer of the possibilities of education in the digital age.

Wing Kuen Wee

Born and raised in Singapore, Wing Kuen completed his Bachelor of Sports Science (Honours) at Edith Cowan University in 2009. This was followed by a postgraduate diploma in Teaching, specialising in Physical Education and Mathematics. Besides that he had a stint working with autistic toddlers as an Intervention Assistant. Wing Kuen has a desire to nurture children in achieving their full potential. Having represented Singapore in the sport of kayaking, he has a passion for all water sports.

Naomi MacGregor

Naomi completed her Bachelor of Education in South Africa in 1992. She started teaching in 1993 in multi-cultural government schools. For the past 15 years she was teaching at her former high school where she took over the role as Head of Mathematics. In 2011 she completed her Honours in Bachelor of Education specialising in Educational Management. Naomi loves to travel and has been to America and Europe. In 2012 her family relocated to Australia.

Brenda Nelson

Brenda completed her education degree in South Africa in 1985. She taught for many years both in the Primary and Early Childhood sectors. Brenda relocated to London where she taught for 10 years before joining Australian Christian College in 2010. She loves teaching and enjoys the enthusiasm for learning shown by young children. Brenda enjoys guiding parents in the fantastic opportunity they have of being able to educate their children at home.

Paul Blechynden

Paul completed his Bachelor of Education (Primary) as a mature-aged student in 2015. He received numerous awards including the Science Teachers of Western Australia Pre-Service Teacher Award and the highest graduating student in Literacy studies at Curtin University. Paul’s personal interests include spending time with his wife and eight wonderful children and appreciating everything that the outdoors has to offer. Paul is passionate about learning from his students and inspiring them to reach their goals and discover the treasure that is found in the Bible.

Rachel Power

Rachel Power has been teaching for the last 16 years in Western Australia from the Kimberley to the South West. Before that she taught in an international school in Thailand for 3 years. Rachel has a Bachelor in Education and a Diploma in Fine Art and Design. She lives with her husband and three children in Albany. Rachel is enjoying teaching with a christian focus.

Jennifer Wingard

Jennifer is the Chaplain at ACC in Albany. Jennifer moved to Albany in 2014 from the United States. She has a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and Sociology as well as a Christian Education Certification. When not working with students at the school, Jennifer spends her time helping her husband Ben who is pastor at the local Presbyterian Church, and raising her three children in Years 10, 9, and 6. Her greatest passion is to see students supported and loves being able to be a part of their academic, social, emotional and spiritual journey.

Tim Burns

Tim was born and raised in Hobart. He completed a Bachelor of Human Movement at the University of Tasmania in 2004. After 2 years working with the Tasmanian Education Department, Tim and his wife Libby moved to Geraldton. During his 10 years in Geraldton, Tim taught a variety of classes. Tim is passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. He is currently studying his Masters at Australian College of Ministries and works part time at a local church. Tim loves his wife and 4 wonderful children, playing hockey and all kinds of music.

Bronwyn Jansz

Bronwyn completed her Bachelor of Education (Kindergarten-Primary) halfway through 2011. She has had a range of working experiences, but to satisfy a love of reading she largely worked at the City of Joondalup Public Libraries before coming to Australian Christian College in fourth term 2011. Bronwyn also loves arts, crafts and music. She has a passion for engaging her students with hands-on learning experiences and shares her love of music with her students.
