Malcolm Bromhead

Principal

Malcolm began working as a District Officer on foster care, child abuse and school truancy. In 1985 he commenced teaching and in 2005 was appointed Principal of St Philip’s Christian College in NSW where the school grew from 25 to 900 students by 2014. Malcolm has a Bachelor of Education and he is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Education. His faith is grounded in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Malcolm has been married for over 45 years and enjoys his bike rides around the Albany shoreline and coffee shop stops.

Paul Gandini

Teacher

Growing up in Queensland, Paul completed his Bachelor of Education in 2011. He spent his first seven years teaching in Rockhampton and Brisbane before making the big leap across the country to Albany in 2019. Paul is passionate about helping students grow and reach their full potential. His interests include basketball and rugby league, as well as a growing love for traveling, mountain climbing and taking photos of God’s creation which is particularly on display around Albany.

Jade Baker

Teacher

Jade completed an arts degree at the University of Western Australia, majoring in English and History, before gaining a Graduate Diploma in Education from Curtin University. Jade has been teaching for 8 years and is currently immersed in a Masters research project through Murdoch University, where she is exploring creativity and writing in senior secondary schooling. Outside of school, Jade loves reading, going to the beach and spending time with her husband and three children.

Rachel Power

Teacher

Having grown up in an educational family, with her Dad a principal and Mum a teacher, she initially avoided teaching until she took a position in Thailand and loved working alongside children. Rachel meet her husband at university and they both went remote teaching in the Kimberley, caught a barramundi and made great friends with many. Rachel has now combined her Christian beliefs into the teaching profession and finds it even more rewarding. Teaching keeps her young at heart.

Michael Poole

Teacher

Michael was born and grew up in Albany before moving to Perth to study where he met his wife and had two children. He has been teaching for over 20 years. In 2010 he moved back to Albany to embrace a sea change. On the weekends you will find him woodworking and handcrafting electric guitars and eating the produce from his 55 fruit trees, 11 vegetable gardens and 2 bee hives.

John “JD” Hummerston

Teacher

John, or “JD” as he is most commonly known, is the son of a Primary School Teacher and so his passion for teaching the next generation runs in the family. JD loves the energy and excitment that comes with working with young people and taps into these aspects when teaching. JD loves every minute of being a teacher! On the weekends, you will find JD down at the beach or playing AFL, basketball or cricket.

Tim Burns

Chaplain

Oiginally a PE teacher, Tim is enjoying a change of direction into Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care. He works 2 days a week as a Youth Pastor and 3 days as the Chaplain at ACC. Tim is a father of 4, husband, average but passionate musician, proud Tasmanian, hockey player and Collingwood supporter. Daily he’s learning to allow Jesus Christ to shape all of his living and being - totally dependant on the grace of God in this endeavour.

Andrew Sephton

Teacher

Andrew is an enthusiastic outdoorsman, father of 3, Labrador owner and husband to Kelly. He completed his Bachelor of Science and Diploma of Education at Edith Cowan University and Masters of Education at Morling College. Andrew is currently researching the benefits of Outdoor Learning on student growth and wellbeing at Murdoch University. At school Andrew enjoys working with Year 12 graduates as they move beyond school life and start to use their God-given gifts for service.

Russell Hunt

Teacher

Russell was born in Sydney, grew up in Perth and moved to Albany with his wife and daughter many years ago. Russell became a Christian in 1988 while travelling around Australia in a Kombi. He has been a high school teacher for most of his working life, with the majority of that time in Christian education. Russell fellowships at Calvary Chapel Albany and is slowly working his way through a Masters in Divinity.

Elisa Pitavanik

Teacher

Elisa is a Visual Art Teacher who believes in equipping students to express themselves through the Visual Arts. She enjoys creating artworks in her dedicated home art studio and finds Visual Art very therapeutic. Elisa believes that God is the ultimate Creator and that we are made in His image to also be creative. She attends Albany Church of Christ and loves getting outdoors, going to cafes, gardening and taking her young daughter to the park and beach.

Bronwyn Pitman

Teacher

Bronwyn teaches primary school sport at ACC in Albany. All through high school and university she played hockey and loved being active in many sports. Alongside this passion for sport, God has captured her heart for discipleship and encouraging those in need of support. After university, Bronwyn worked as a short term missions coordinator, planning trips and mentoring individuals before and after their mission journeys. Bronwyn has 3 children under 6 years and so sleep isn’t her friend.

Aneen Lamble

Teacher

Aneen completed her teaching degree at Curtin University before making the tree change with her husband and two children to Mount Barker in 2017. Aneen is a Maths teacher and Learning Support Coordinator. Her greatest passion and joy is helping students with learning difficulties while supporting them to reach their full potential. Aneen is currently completing a second teaching degree to broaden and improve her teaching skills. She is an avid quilter and attends the Mount Barker Baptist Church.

Amy Kirkness

Teacher

Originally from Perth, Amy completed her Bachelor of Education (Early Years) in 2018. She believes that helping students know and love their Creator is the most important work. When Amy’s not teaching or preparing lessons she enjoys leading music at her local church and singing Colin Buchanan songs. If she’s not dressing up in crazy costumes and singing with children, Amy enjoys curling up with a cup of coffee and a good book.

Carryn Lagesse

Teacher

Carryn moved to Australia in 2015 from South Africa and has never looked back. Carryn’s love for teaching is only surpassed by her love for children. Outside work, Carryn and her husband are kept on their toes by their beautiful son. Carryn enjoys walking on the beach, exploring new places and going on holiday with her family. As an animal lover, a farm packed with all types of animals would be her dream home.

Naomi MacGregor

Teacher

Naomi completed a Higher Diploma in Secondary Education in 1992. She started her teaching career in South Africa the following year. Naomi is a committed lifelong learner and has completed various qualifications through distance education while teaching, including a Honours degree in Educational Management. She immigrated to Australia and started teaching at ACC in 2012. Naomi’s greatest professional joy occurs when students lose their fear of Maths. On the weekends she likes to relax and read.

Brenda Nelson

Teacher

Brenda completed her education degree in South Africa in 1985. She taught for many years both in the Primary and Early Childhood sectors. Brenda relocated to London where she taught for 10 years before joining Australian Christian College in 2010. She has taught online and on campus and loves the enthusiasm for learning shown by her students. At the weekend, Brenda enjoys gardening, spending time with her husband and exploring 'The Great Outdoors'.

Daniel Pitman

Teacher

Born and raised in Albany, Daniel completed his schooling locally after which he completed an apprenticeship before moving to Perth where he married. While in Perth Daniel completed a Bachelor of Education. His first teaching years were spent in the Pilbara. Since returning to Albany, he has taken up a teaching position at ACC. At church Daniel serves by playing guitar and on the weekend enjoys taking the dog for early morning runs and spending time with his family.

Wee Wing Kuen

Teacher

Wing Kuen has been teaching at the school since 2012 and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Education, Bachelor in Exercise and Sports Science and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Wing Kuen is passionate about seeing each child reach their full potential by maximising their God given talents and gifts. In his spare time, he is involved with coaching football (the World Game) to children of all ages, in addition to men and women in Albany.

Michelle Dragan

Teacher

After 8 years of Science studies at various levels at university, Michelle became a Secondary Science teacher. She joined the ACC community in 2016 and has enjoyed working with like-minded staff and making a difference to children's lives. While Michelle is undeniably passionate about Science, she is even more passionate about helping others to develop a growth mindset and an overall love of learning. On the weekends, Michelle loves hitting the hiking tracks outside Albany.

Caleb Castlehow

Teacher

Caleb has been teaching since 2012, originally from Albany, he earned his stripes at a Christian school in Geraldton before returning to Albany to teach at Australian Christian College. He has a Bachelor of Exercise & Sports Science from ECU and a Grad Dip in Education from Murdoch. Caleb enjoys the deep relationships he is able to form among both students and staff. He also enjoys spending time with his family, being physically active and supporting his beloved Dockers.
